CHURCH MISSION STATEMENT

Linwood Avenue Union Church, in response to the Gospel of Jesus Christ, is in the process of building a loving, caring, community of faith. This faith in Jesus Christ as Son of God and Saviour, who promised his presence for daily living through the power of the Holy Spirit, is for sharing. With this in mind, we are a welcoming Church, encouraging all people to gain a sense of belonging, as they come to express their faith in God.

Acknowledging the giftedness of the whole people of God, together, we will support, encourage, and challenge one another in our faith as we each go as servants in the world to live out the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

We seek to dialogue with the community in which we live, in order to listen and respond in love. We will work towards justice, peace, and an ecologically based community for everyone.

We will work towards multi-cultural harmony, as first expressed in partnership between Maori and Pakeha in the Treaty of Waitangi, and with all other cultures that make up Aotearoa New Zealand.

We will seek to grapple with issues of social, moral, and ethical concerns within the community, giving Christian impetus to these issues, and being prepared to take action against issues leading to poverty and oppression.
